Overview: This 4-day workshop explores spirituality as a resource for mental
health & wellness. Particular emphasis is on clarifying personal beliefs so
as to avoid impingement on professional practice. We discuss the role
spirituality can play in recovery from traumatic and other challenging
experiences, and how spiritual beliefs support or impede meaning-making that
promotes resilience and wholeness. Psychodramatic enactments explore
participants' connection to God, god, goddess, The Divine, The Universe,
Cosmic Consciousness or other spiritual or religious meaning-making systems.
Ethical questions about the role of spirituality in clinical practice are
raised and best practices offered. Spiritual pathways of the body, mind and
heart are explored. Theists, atheists, agnostics, secular humanists,
believers, nonbelievers and seekers of all traditions based in compassion
and social justice are welcome.
Who Should Participate: Mental health professionals and students; educators;
spiritual facilitators; yoga teachers and others who support individuals and
groups in their quest for meaning and purpose in their lives.
Workshop Leader: Catherine D. Nugent, LCPC, TEP, RYT200, is a licensed
